The 112th Philippine Independence Day Celebration

The Philippine 112th Independence Day Celebration, with theme - Kalayaan 2010. The occassion was observed with a short program which includes reading of messages from the President of the Philippines, Philippine Ambassador - Phil Embassy in Palau and from the Secretary of Department of Foreign Affairs, filipino games and message from the President of the Filipino Association in Kosrae (FILASKO). The celebration was organized by FILASKO held on June 12, 2010, in M. Thompson Beach Picnic Area, Lelu, Kosrae FSM 96944

The models: Mike and Doc Zai

Mike posed with a small philippine flag waiving as his way of observing the independence celebration.

Triple Double: Almost "grandslam" - Probably the best pose during the celebration and the best in costume! Great pose Doc Zai and great smile indeed.

Upon seing Doc Zai's pose and smile, Benjie rushed and volunteered himself to give the registration sheets and assist her to sign.

Ate Rose came in early waiving to everyone. She knows that she will never be late because she will be one of the masters of ceremony and the program cannot start without her.

While Totong probably thinks that Ate Rose need to start the program right away, he assisted her wihout hesitation.

Kuya Ted signed also on the registration sheet using Ate Rose's back, it looks like Ate Rose got tickled by Kuya Ted's writing.

Ate Joan in green, while talking to Leandro, while Dr. Mallari brought the jackpot price along with Melchor assisting to bring a case of bottled water.

Gents behind roasted milkfish and chicken bbq. Benjie and Pat carefully prepare the milkfish for roasting, while the big man Eddie does the supervision.

Eddie again supervises the chicken barbeque as comments from William "Kring Kring" is being entertained. Melchor, Eddies brother (left) and Joni (07 Hawaii) are just enjoying "burning" these chickens...

Thurston Gents sponsored an improvised billiard table. This pool is common in the Philippines especially in small villages during their past times. Dario showed them pool tricks which if it have been viewed live in a TV, viewers will prefer watching Arirang! Hahahaha! Although they also played and bet against each other, while proceeds went to Peter Vella.

The technical guys, Totong and Leandro being in-charge of the sound system. Thank you to Ate Ursie and Lisa who provided the microphone and the magic sing karaoke which our volunters used to entertain the other Filipinos while having late lunch. Leandro also provided the amplifier and the speakers for the sound system.

"Mel and Jay" - as usual, Kuya Gerry and Ate Rose served as the masters of ceremony. Both of them made warm welcomes to the those who attended the celebration and proceeded to the next part of the program.

Dr. Rolando Mallari led the prayer for the occassion. It looks like Rudy, "the small local boy in gray leaning with the pick-up truck" is having a hard time to figure out what Dr. Mallari is talking about.

After the prayer, the program continued with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, led by Ate Rose, lunch, message from the President of FILASKO and eventually reading messages from the President of the Philippines, Secretary of Department of Foreign Affairs and from the Consulate of the Phil. Embassy in Palau.

Lunch Time :

Benjie used banana leaf to scare unwanted guests on the food. He takes care of Toto (green shirt) and Totong (orange shirt) and other guests while getting their food.

Ladies from the College of Micronesia happened to group themselves during lunchtime. Ate Evelyn (in blue) Rhoda (center) and Ate Rose.

The men behind the roasting are now enjoying the cooked bbq and roasted milkfish.

A very active officer of the organization, Doc Zai entertained the participants with her beautiful voice during lunch.
During the singing, others watched and listened at a distance...

Others are not eating, just to listen...
William is walking backwards to hear her...
Others listened by leaning on the coconut tree...

After lunch................

Lisa and Erla are enjoying the ocean breeze and the shade provided by the coconut trees.

Ate Joan, looking at Mike, Rudy and their dog Pirate.

The other gents continued to show off their talents with the improvised billiard pool with the cup of "Peter Vella" this time as shown on the table.

Two of our beautiful and very accomodating ladies. Cynthia and Manay....

Rey and Caloy...
Gents from APSCO, from left, Doy, Toto, Pat (from Raimund) and another Toto.
Ate Rose grabbed Lisa as Sharon's replacement for the intermission number.
Jimmy smiled to Ate Rose and asked if Ate Rose needs more pulling power!
Finally, she is holding the microphone. And Ate Rose appeared to be really enjoying!
Another song number was about to be made by Doc Mallari.
And for reasons that we don't know, his intermission number now will be transformed to a dance number with Leo singing?
Audience were really amazed on what will happen next....
The program was followed by games such as "Hephep-Horraay", Pera o Bayong, Pinoy Henyo and raffle draw for the final prize.
Other snap shots....

The FILASKO thanks all the Filipinos who joined the celebration for the observance of 112th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Kosrae. We extend our thanks to other non-filipinos who helped and donated during the occassion.
Thank you for your participation, the food and donations you brought and the camaraderie you shared.
